Baptism is the foundation of the Christian life. Through it, we are united with Jesus Christ, reborn as sons and daughters of God, and freed to respond to His constant invitation to live in grace.

By Baptism, we become members of the Church and sharers in Christ’s mission — to proclaim the Good News of God’s boundless love and mercy to the world.

Baptism is the first of the seven sacraments. For Catholics, it marks the beginning of a lifelong journey with Christ. Families are encouraged to baptize their children soon after birth, though some are baptized later in life or even as adults. Whether we are baptized as infants or adults, the Sacrament of Baptism is the Church’s way of celebrating and enacting God’s loving embrace.

Infant Baptism

For newborns to children up to four years old, Baptism in our parish takes place in three steps:

  1. Information Session – A compulsory session with the priest, which can be arranged even before your child’s birth. Please complete the enrolment form below and book your meeting.

  2. Presentation at Mass – Your child will be presented to the parish community and welcomed during a Sunday Mass. Attendance at the information session is required before this step.

  3. The Baptism – Infant Baptisms are held on the second and fourth Sundays of each month at 11:00 a.m. (Preferably not during Lent.)

Enrolment / Further Information

To enrol your child for Baptism, please complete the online Infant Baptism Enrolment Form below. You will receive a confirmation email from the Parish Secretary with further details. If you wish to speak with someone, please call 02 4324 3962 .

Baptism for Young Children (Ages 5 and Older)

In addition to the requirements listed above, children aged five years and older must attend three preparation sessions before receiving the Sacrament of Baptism.

Adult Baptism

The baptism ceremony for adults and teens is similar to that of children, except that you make your own baptismal promises. Instead of godparents, adults have sponsors, whose role is to guide and encourage you in the Catholic faith.

Preparation for adult baptism takes place through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) — a formal process of instruction, reflection, and formation. Traditionally, adult baptisms are celebrated during the Easter Vigil.

For more information, please contact the Parish Office at 02 4324 3962 or by email.
